Beacon PTLA’s Character Day & Bake Sale Event on October 29th

October 29 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Character Day

On October 29th, Beacon Private School’s Parent-Teacher Leadership Association (PTLA) is excited to host a special Character Day celebration. As Halloween does not resonate with the local customs of Bahrain, we have opted for a more inclusive and culturally respectful approach: Character Day Bahrain. This event is designed to allow students to express their creativity, participate in fun activities, and engage in a meaningful school-wide initiative—all while adhering to the cultural sensitivities of our community.

What is Character Day?

Character Day is an exciting event where students come to school dressed as their favorite characters from books, movies, or even historical figures. This is a day to embrace imagination and creativity, allowing students to step into the shoes of characters they admire or relate to. The goal of this event is to encourage literacy, self-expression, and a fun learning environment. Students are invited to explore their favorite literary or fictional worlds and share their enthusiasm with classmates.

From superheroes to classic storybook characters, students will have the opportunity to showcase their costumes and explain who they are and why they chose their particular character. This builds communication skills, creativity, and confidence—values we hold dear at Beacon Private School. Moreover, Character Day Bahrain ensures that we remain culturally respectful while giving students an opportunity for personal expression and creativity.

Bake Sale Organized by the Beacon PTLA

In conjunction with Character Day, the Beacon PTLA is organizing a Bake Sale to add a touch of sweetness to the festivities. The Beacon PTLA plays a vital role in supporting the school, students, and community by organizing fundraising activities, promoting engagement between parents and teachers, and ensuring that every event is memorable.

The Bake Sale will feature a wide variety of delicious treats, all lovingly prepared by parents, teachers, and volunteers from our community. From homemade cupcakes and cookies to more traditional bakes, the sale will have something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. The funds raised from this event will go directly towards supporting school initiatives, including future PTLA activities, student enrichment programs, and classroom resources.

Why Participate?

Participating in Character Day and the Bake Sale is a wonderful way for students, parents, and teachers to come together and celebrate the spirit of community at Beacon Private School. It’s not just about dressing up; it’s about fostering a love of learning, creativity, and collaboration among students. Additionally, the Bake Sale offers a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for the school while enjoying delicious treats made by our very own community members.

Events like this provide students with valuable experiences outside the traditional classroom setting, helping them develop social and leadership skills. For parents, it’s a chance to become more involved in school activities and contribute to the school’s growth and success. The PTLA, in particular, plays a key role in ensuring that these events are well-organized and successful, making it a valuable and active part of the school community.

Guidelines for Character Day Bahrain

To ensure that Character Day Bahrain is a positive experience for all, we have established a few simple guidelines:

1. Costumes: Students are encouraged to dress as characters from books, movies, or history. Costumes should be appropriate for the school environment—nothing too scary or violent—and should respect cultural sensitivities.

2. Participation: While dressing up is encouraged, participation in Character Day is optional. Students who prefer not to wear a costume are welcome to come in their regular school uniform and still enjoy the day’s festivities.

3. Sharing: Students will have the opportunity to explain who their character is and why they chose them. This activity helps promote public speaking, confidence, and a love for storytelling.

4. No Toy Weapons: To maintain a safe and welcoming environment, we ask that students avoid bringing toy weapons or props that could be misconstrued as harmful.

The success of this event depends on the enthusiasm and creativity of our students, so we encourage them to fully embrace the opportunity to showcase their characters with pride.

Supporting the Bake Sale

The Beacon PTLA Bake Sale is another exciting aspect of Character Day Bahrain. Parents and community members are invited to contribute baked goods for sale. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your baking skills while supporting a great cause. Here are a few ways you can participate:

Donate Baked Goods: If you enjoy baking, consider contributing a batch of your favorite treats to the sale. Whether it’s cupcakes, cookies, brownies, or traditional Middle Eastern sweets, every contribution helps.

Purchase and Enjoy: Even if you aren’t able to bake, you can still participate by purchasing some of the delicious goods on offer. All proceeds will go towards enriching the school environment and supporting future Beacon PTLA activities.

Volunteer: If you have some time to spare, consider volunteering to help set up or run the Bake Sale. The Beacon PTLA welcomes any help and would love to have you involved in making this event a success.

The funds raised will directly benefit our students by enhancing their learning environment, supporting extracurricular activities, and contributing to the overall development of the school. Your involvement, whether through baking, volunteering, or purchasing items at the sale, is invaluable to making Character Day Bahrain a success.

Community Spirit at Beacon Private School

At Beacon Private School, we believe in the power of community. Character Day Bahrain and the Bake Sale are just two examples of how we work to bring students, parents, teachers, and the broader community together. These events foster an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels involved and connected to the school’s mission of providing holistic, world-class education in Bahrain.

The Beacon PTLA plays an instrumental role in creating these opportunities, ensuring that both parents and teachers are active participants in the school’s growth and success. Events like these are a testament to the strong partnership between home and school, which is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy.

Looking Forward to a Fun and Memorable Day

We are incredibly excited about Character Day Bahrain on October 29th and the accompanying Bake Sale organized by the Beacon PTLA. It’s sure to be a day filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit. Whether you’re dressing up, baking treats, or simply enjoying the festivities, we hope to see you there, making memories and supporting Beacon Private School’s wonderful community.
